With Sweep of Drillers, Brahmas Take Back First Place

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS – After giving up their South Division first place spot to the Atlanta Capitals in early January, the Brahmas have battled back to reclaim that spot. With a three game sweep this past weekend and a now 28-8-0 record, Texas sits five points ahead of the second place Atlanta Capitals.

Friday’s game was won 4-2. Brahmas scorers were Dakota Davis, James Boisvert, Jacob Peterson and Kyle Torgerson. They faced Louisiana goalie Santeri Seppinen who had 27 saves. Tyler Myers, Brahmas net minder, had 24 saves, allowing the only two Louisiana goals coming in the middle of the third period.

Saturday’s game was also won with a 4-2 score. Both teams switched up their goalies. Louisiana put in Kevin Lake, who had 29 saves and allowed goals from Vincent Dekumbis (2), Melker Kroon and Jacob Peterson. Brahmas goalie, Samuel Solomon, had 27 saves allowing two goals in the second period.

60 minutes wasn’t enough for Sunday’s game. Brahmas won this one 3-4 with an overtime goal coming seconds before the buzzer. With assists from Jacob Peterson and Melker Kroon, Dakota Davis scored the game winner to compete the weekend sweep. Brahmas goals in regulation came from Jacob Berry, Cole Schultz and Vincent Dekumbis in the third to take the game to overtime. Texas goalie Tyler Myers came out with 24 saves and Santeri Seppinen for Louisiana with 32.

Texas Brahmas next travel to Decatur, Alabama to face-off against the Point Mallard Ducks. Saturday, February 11, puck will drop at 6:00 pm and Sunday, February 12 at 1:00 pm. Both games will be played at Point Mallard Ice Complex.
