Wisconsin hangs on, beats Texas 4-2

Alex Anderson scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and the Wisconsin Whalers held off the challenges of the Texas Jr. Brahmas in a tough 4-2 win.

A goal 8:37 into the first period by Anderson proved to be the game winner, and powered Wisconsin to the victory. Peter Henderson assisted on the tally.

The Whalers were sparked by Ryan Martin, who finished with one goal and one assist. Martin scored 15:18 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wisconsin. Henderson provided the assist.

Wisconsin managed to stay out of the box better than usual, finishing with one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Whalers finished below its season average of 15.0 penalty minutes per game.

Wisconsin also got points from Adam Schoenfeld, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Wisconsin also got a goal from Kaleb Morley as well. In addition, Wisconsin received assists from Caleb Voster and Zachary Shenderovsky, who each chipped in one.

Texas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances.

The Jr. Brahmas were helped by Ryan Dunner, who registered one goal. Dunner scored 12:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wisconsin. Brock Brown also scored for Texas. Other players who recorded assists for Texas were Jon Grimm and Anthony Koslow, who contributed one each.

David Volkmann made 23 saves for Wisconsin on 25 shots. Texas\’ Joe Hacker stopped 23 shots out of the 26 that he faced. The Jr. Brahmas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
