What The Ekk!

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Brahmas showed little signs of rust on Friday afternoon as they opened their set against the Louisiana Drilers with a resounding 7-1 victory.

It didn’t take long for the action to begin as Bryan Whelan scored on the very first shot of the game, his tenth tally of the season.  The strike was countered soon after though by the Drillers who got their only goal of the day, courtesy Timothy Zittel.

Before the first period came to a conclusion, Ryan Dunner pushed the Brahmas back ahead by one though, his first of two on the afternoon.

The first period was marred by injuries though as all three crews lost a player.  For the rest of the game the Brahmas were without the services of Brandon Baker and then later the Drillers lost forward Ian Hale with a lower-body injury.  Additionally, linesman Daniel Spore took a puck to the mouth.

After the opening 20 were out of the way, the rest of the contest was labeled with Brahmas scoring.   Victor Ekk stole the show in the second scoring twice, and then was joined in the multi-goal category by Dunner.

In the final period Ekk polished off his afternoon with a fluke third goal to record the second hat trick of the season for the Brahmas.  Bryan Whelan added yet another for his second of the afternoon finishing the scoring at 7.

In net Brandon Perrone recorded his eight win of the season stopping 10 out of 11.

The two teams will face each other again tomorrow and Sunday at 2:05 at NYTEX Sports Centre.  Both games are free admission and we encourage all those who are able to attend!
