Nov 30, 2018

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The anticipated Thanksgiving weekend matchup between the Brahmas and Jr. Stars had the Brahmas come out on top each time.

Friday night had a strong showing defensively and between the pipes for both teams. Jack Cooper scored the only goal in the first period early on for the Brahmas. They kept their lead for most of the second frame but a goal from Josh Lin of the Jr Stars tied it up in the final seconds. With no goals scored in the third the teams headed to overtime. Andrew Maccallum scored about 3 minutes to seal a Brahmas victory. The Texas Brahmas managed 26 shots and Brahmas goaltender, Thomas Held, saves 30 of 31 shots he faced.

Saturday afternoon was a back and forth. Brahmas defensemen, Ian Erdman, sunk one in late in the first for the first of the game. The second had a goal for the Jr Stars and one for Jack Cooper. The final frame started out with a Mid Cities goal but a goal from Tyler Blanchard in the final minute gave the Brahmas the win.  The Brahmas were able to get 31 shots on goal and Thomas Held had his second win of the weekend saving 19 of 21 shots.

Sunday afternoon is where the Brahmas offense really shined. Mid Cities scored in the first minute of the game for the only goal of the first period. Texas’ offense exploded during the second with goals from Mikey Thomas, Matej Palfy and 2 from Tyler Blanchard. The third period had two goals from Mid Cities forward, Nick Solema. It also had goals from Brahmas alternate captain, Stuart Pearson, and goals from Parker Mara and Mason Mara. Brahmas goaltender, Bryce Runyan, held strong between the pipes saving 31 of 34 shots faced.

The Brahmas are now sitting in 5th in the league and are 17-2-2.
