Topeka survives Texas comeback, wins 2-1

The Texas Jr. Brahmas tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Topeka Capitals held on for a 2-1 victory.

Topeka made the score 2-0 on a goal by Hank Roers at 10:02 in the third period, and Texas got as close as 2-1 when Nick Nitta scored 18:09 into the third period.

Roers had a great game for the Capitals, netting two goals.

The Jr. Brahmas\’ power play was ineffective against Topeka\’s penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Other players who recorded assists for Topeka were Andrew Cooley, Spencer Sabourin, Steve MacIver, and Colin OConner, who each chipped in one.

In addition, Texas received assists from Chase Deacon and Kurt Thiele, who contributed one each.

Bailey Aust took the win and made 20 saves before being replaced by Brett Malkmus who made four saves. The Capitals incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Quinton Reynolds made 22 saves for Texas on 24 shots. The Jr. Brahmas incurred 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
