Brahmas Send Four Players to Top Prospects in St. Louis!

Mar 22, 2024

While the Lone Star Brahmas have a weekend off and the Texas Brahmas season has completed, our eyes are on the St. Peter’s Rec Plex in St. Peters, Missouri. The 2024 Top Prospects tournament will take place March 23rd and 24th. Four teams (White, Gold, Blue, and Red) will play two games each over the course of the weekend. The event has quickly become one of the most highly scouted events of its kind, with hundreds of junior and college scouts expected in attendance this season.

Each NA3HL Top Prospects team will consist of a 22-man roster (12 forwards, 8 defensemen and 2 goalies). Any player who will be considered for the event, must be nominated by their respective head coaches and must not be on a team competing in the Fraser Cup. Representing the Texas Brahmas we have three players on team White (Kaden Spaniol, Joey Crowley, and Luke Romney). Team Gold has one Brahma, Gabe Arteaga. The tournament will give these four young men one more opportunity to showcase their talents in front of NAHL and NCAA coaches and scouts.

Kaden Spaniol had a fantastic season for the Brahmas. He had 15 goals and 28 assists in 36 games during the regular season. He added two points in the two post season games as well. He turns 20 in a month, which, means he would be eligible tor return to Brahma Land if he does not sign with a team in the NAHL.

Joey Crowley led the Brahmas in scoring with an impressive 29 goals and 30 assists in 47 games. Perhaps the most impressive stat line for Crowley though was his +43 rating. The Romeoville, Illinois native will turn 20 in October. While we certainly hope to see him back in Brahma Land, a talented player like Crowley will certainly be on the radar of the scouts at Top Prospects.

The final Brahma on team White roster is goaltender Luke Romney. Romney hails from the sunshine state (Florida). Romney had 11 wins for the Brahmas during the regular season. Luke is a very technical goalie who possesses a strong work ethic. Throughout the course of the regular season, it was not uncommon for Luke to practice with the NAHL Brahmas from 9 am to noon and then put in two more hours of practice with the NA3HL Brahmas from 1:30-3:30 in the afternoon. He served as a backup for more than one NAHL team this season as well, but did not get the opportunity to get in an actual game.

The lone Brahma on team Gold, Gabe Arteaga. Arteaga just completed two full seasons with the Brahmas where he served as an anchor for the Defense. A leader in the locker room, a leader on the ice, Arteaga embodies what it means to be a Brahma. He ended his Brahma career with a +53 rating. Team Gold will no doubt use Arteaga heavily during Top Prospects. Expect him to log big minutes on the PK and PP.

All games will be streamed on NAHLTV. While this will serve as the last event for the NA3HL in the 2023-2024 season, the road to the 2024-2025 season begins in just a couple months with the first of the Brahmas two (2) pre-draft camps. May 31-June 2 the Brahmas will hold a pre-draft camp on Long Island and then June 7-9 the Brahmas will be holding a camp in Chicago.
