Texas survives Helena comeback, wins 3-2

Texas survived a determined comeback attempt by Helena on the way to a 3-2 win.

A goal by Zack Andersen put Texas up 3-0 in the third period, but Helena pulled to within one on Jay Forbes\’s tally 18:44 into the third period.

Texas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Texas did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. Texas averages 5.2 goals per game.

Texas was helped by Ryan Dunner, who racked up one goal. Dunner scored 12:09 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Kyle Galloway picked up the assist. Texas additionally got points from Brock Brown, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. In addition, Texas received assists from Jacob Elrod, Victor Ekk, and Niklas McCallum, who contributed one each.

Texas was unable to stop Helena from sending pucks towards the net, and Helena eventually piled up 34 shots on goal.

Helena was helped by Cody Vanthournout, who had one goal. Vanthournout scored 13:11 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Texas. Brandon Mills assisted on the tally. More assists for Helena came via Ryan Daugherty, Gavin Lubin, and Blake Babineau, who each chipped in one.

Tyler Myers recorded 32 saves for Texas. Texas incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Adam Ranck made 24 saves for Helena on 27 shots. Helena incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
