Texas Adds Skill Down The Middle

Aug 4, 2014

The Texas Brahmas of the NA3HL are pleased to announce two more signings for the 2014-15 season. The newest additions to the roster are forwards Brock Brown (97), from Hendersonville, TN and Chase Deacon (96) from Flower Mound, TX, the Brahmas first of several local players to sign with the team. Brown will be one of 2 High School aged players on the roster this season, attending Birdville HS with teammate Matt Alfieri, also from the Nashville, TN area. “I’ve known Brock and his family for several years now and am excited to have him playing down the middle for us this year”, said Head Coach Al Rooney. “He will bring a good amount of skill to the lineup, good hands and vision, and I’ve noticed he has started to add some grit to his game as well, so he’ll plug right into the lineup at the Jr level no problem. He participated in our NA Camps in Chicago and Detroit and looked comfortable, so I have no worries that he will handle the step up to Jr’s well.” Deacon already has some Jr hockey experience from last season, seeing some action in the WSHL. “Chase is a player that has been a pleasant surprise for us in that he wasn’t on our radar, but after having seen him skate for us this summer, I didn’t hesitate to offer him a contract to join us”, Rooney said. “He is smaller but has a good mixture of speed and grit to get around the ice, and I think he’ll cause some problems for our opponents at both ends of the ice this season. He has a deceptive shot, so we’ll need to make sure to put him in a position where he can take advantage of that. Both of these guys really add a nice dimension for us up the middle of the ice, both being two way players.” The addition of these two brings the current announced roster to 8 players with Rooney hinting that there will be a big announcement this week regarding the roster, adding that he is real pleased with how everything is going both on and off the ice for the team and expects this season to be a great step forward for the Tier III Jr team in the Brahmas organization. The Brahmas will be playing all of their home games in the ‘South Division’ of the NA3HL out of NYTEX Sports Centre with the season opener just over a month away on September 12th. More roster announcements will be made here soon.
