Sheptytsky's Extended Stay

Dec 7, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Saturday, November 28th was a special night for the organization when Mykyta Sheptysky made an appearance in the Lone Star Brahmas lineup.

A member of Al Rooney’s Texas Jr. Brahmas NA3HL team, Sheptytsky recorded 22 points in 13 games before being called up to the North American Hockey League as a result of an injury-plagued forward group.

It was the first call-up of the season between the Lone Star Brahmas and Texas Jr. Brahmas but despite losing a member of his roster; Rooney views it as nothing but a positive thing.

“From our locker room’s perspective it puts some meat on the bones for the guys to get hungry about it.  To see that it’s an avenue that’s not only promised upon but has now been delivered energizes the rest of the guys,” he said.

Sheptytsky’s performance that night has earned him more playing time with the big boys, now having since played with the Brahmas in their two most recent games against Wichita Falls and Amarillo.

“He brings some good size to our team.  He’s got some skill and can make a play,” said Lone Star Brahmas head coach Dan Wildfong.  “I think there’s some work to be done on the defensive side of things but we’re happy to be helping him clean that up.”

Now sitting at 15-4-4 in the NAHL South Division the Brahmas ability to mix in players like Sheptytsky and continue their winnings ways speaks volumes to their regiment.

“Lone Star’s a really good team and to be called up to them is a real feather in the cap,” Rooney continued to remark.

The door certainly appears open for more opportunities involving NA3HL Texas Jr. Brahmas to make the leap up to the next level, so keep your eyes to all things NYTEX to find out who’s next!
