Sheptytsky Traded

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Brahmas Head Coach Al Rooney announced on Thursday that the team has traded forward Mykyta Sheptytsky to the Amarillo Bulls of the North American Hockey League.

Sheptytsky finished tied for fourth in NA3HL scoring last year and was averaging more points-per-game this season.  Known in the locker room as “Shep”, the forward from the Ukraine appeared in three games for the Lone Star Brahmas this season, two of which came against his new team.

“I’m really pleased, happy and excited for Shep because he’s basically proven all he can at this level.  He’s a big time difference maker for us, offensively.  A think he’ll have to be a little bit more defensive minded in the NA but I still think once he adjusts to the level on a regular basis, he’ll be able to provide them with a spark as well,” said coach Al Rooney.

Mykyta nearly cracked the Amarillo roster out of training camp but was the last member cut when the Bulls received Tier I drop-down and recent Niagara University commit Joey Molinaro.

“He’s got too much skill to not help whatever team he’s on with his offensive talents.  He’s big, he’s rangy, he’s got great puck protection skills and great patience, so I think whoever plays with him or whatever line he’s on, his linemates will be the benefactor.  I’m excited to see how he rounds out the season and where his career takes him next.”

Shep will arrive in Amarillo this weekend and is expected make his Bulls debut the following weekend when the team takes on the Odessa Jackalopes.  In exchange for Sheptytsky, the Brahmas recieved an unspecified amount of cash.
