Part 4: Texas Brahmas roll in new wave of talent

Jun 4, 2019

The Texas Brahmas complete the summer series of new player announcements. Last week, we introduced you to three of the nine newly drafted players. This week, we wrap-up the drafted players with the final three new additions!

Head coach Ryan Anderson is confident that the newest members to the Texas Brahmas can step in and continue the momentum coming off a championship run with a talented group of players that no doubt have the ability to make an impact in the NAHL down the road.

“Coming to NYTEX to be part of the Texas Brahmas is an unparalleled experience in the NA3HL”, Anderson said. “These athletes have access to the same resources and coaches as the Lone Star Brahmas in the NAHL and can have everything they need to take the next step.”

Draft

Preston Stafford – Defenseman, year: 2000 // Stafford will join former teammate Keegan Ripper after playing last season with Compuware U18 in the HPHL, while also seeing some action in the NAHL playing three games for the Jamestown Rebels.

Anderson on Stafford: “Stafford is a sound defender who can make plays for us on the ice. He’s such a smooth skater and that allows him to get up and down the ice joining the rush.”

Darien Sciarrino – Defenseman, year: 2000 // Darien is a local athlete from Hickory Creek making his way back home after previously playing for the Texas Brahmas before moving on to play for the Rocky Mountain Roughriders U18 in the NAPHL.

Anderson on Darien: “Darien’s a talented skater who defends well, but has a great ability to move the puck and join the rush to make plays.”

Trevor VanVliet – Forward, year: 2000 // Trevor is another proven point scorer, 14 points in 19 games, coming from Belle Tire U18 in the T1EHL. VanVliet was also with the Amarillo Bulls in the NAHL for two games.

Anderson on Trevor: “Trevor is a very skilled athlete who’s top-notch hockey sense puts him in positions to make plays and sets him up to be a player who can run a power play.”
