Nick Nitta Returns To Brahmas

Feb 22, 2016

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – It’s been over two weeks since the Brahmas have touched the ice as a team, but when they do this weekend, there will be another new face in the lineup.

Head Coach Al Rooney has brought back Nick Nitta, a member of the 2014-15 team.  Nitta led the entire NA3HL in points by defensemen, so with good reason Rooney is excited to have him back.

“Bringing Nick back on board is a huge addition for us on the ice because we’re really banged up, but off the ice it’s a big shot in the arm for us to have him back,” Rooney said.  “To bring in a veteran like Nick is really going to stabilize us on the back end.”

Over the course of last year’s campaign Nitta had 47 points in 41 games, was a +36, had 15 multi-point games, and tacked on 22 points in the final 11 games of the season.

“I envision Nick playing in all situations (even strength, penalty kill, power play), as well as being a shut down role against opponents top line.  We expect him to step right in and bring the same thing.  He was the captain last year and the guys are excited to have him aback and finish this season,” the head coach continued.

Nick’s first games with the team will come this weekend when the Brahmas return home against the Euless Jr. Stars.  Both games are scheduled for 2:05 at NYTEX Sports Centre and are free of admission charge.
