Nashville wins tough contest against Texas, 5-3

The Nashville Jr. Predators and the Texas Jr. Brahmas were evenly matched throughout their contest, but Nashville made the most of its opportunities and won, 5-3.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Peter Cabala at 18:07 of the third period.

Ben Falk was all over the ice for the Jr. Predators, as he racked up two goals in the win. Falk found the back of the net on the power play 13:17 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Texas and again while 19:25 into the third to make the score 5-3 Nashville.

Nashville stifled Texas\’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Nashville also got a goal from Rudolfs Kalvitis as well. In addition, Nashville received assists from Matiss Gelazis, Keegan Haines, Zach Greenwood, Jacob Lainesse, Kyle Van Wyk, Nicholas Redmon, and Colton Anderson, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Brahmas were helped by Ryan Dunner, who had one goal and one assist. Dunner scored 7:37 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Texas. Sam Gagnon picked up the assist. Texas also got points from Jon Severson, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Mykyta Sheptytsky, who also registered one goal and one assist. More assists for Texas came via Conor Durkin, who had one.

Nathan Klebe made 17 saves for the Jr. Predators on 20 shots. Nashville totaled 33 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Jr. Predators ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Alex Durand was ejected from the game. Joe Hacker recorded 18 saves for Texas. The Jr. Brahmas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
