NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX–

Texas Brahmas Alternate Captain Michael Imala has committed to play college hockey for the Fitchburg State Falcons. Imala will join the Falcons starting in the fall of 2023. Imala has been a staple of the Brahmas offense over the past three seasons. In 127 regular season games, the Chicago native has amassed an impressive 168 points. During that stretch, the forward was a plus 140, and a critical part of the Brahmas success.

Already this season, Imala did set the record for most goals scored in one season for the Brahmas with 39, on his way to amassing 75 points in the regular season. In addition to these contributions, Michael was also selected for the 2023 NA3HL Top Prospects Tournament, held last month at the UPMC Center in Cranberry Township, where he racked up 3 goals and 2 assists for Team South. This impressive show of scoring aptitude happens to be one goal stronger than his previous Top Prospects appearance, when he played for Team Red at the 2022 NA3HL Top Prospects tournament last season.

Postseason Focus Thus far in this postseason, Michael Imala has played heavy minutes in all 5 games leading up to the 2023 NA3HL Fraser Cup Tournament. During the 3 game series against the Texas RoadRunners and a 2 game sweep of the New Mexico Ice Wolves, Imala sent 3 goals into the twine along with 3 assists on the Brahmas’ path to the 2023 NA3HL South Division title. This would indicate an upward trend of postseason point scoring, given Imala’s 2022 postseason totals of 2 goals and 2 assists. “I spoke with Michael today about this article you’re writing about his commitment,” elaborated Texas Brahmas Head Coach John Goffredo, “and (Imala) told me that he is completely focused on this team, this moment at hand, and help the entire team execute at the highest levels at the Fraser Cup Tournament. That’s what every team needs to know right now, including the Falcons. He is laser-focused.”

Imala’s success is not exclusive to the ice, rather Michael is and continues to be a leader in the locker room, and a fan favorite. He began the 2022-2023 campaign in the Lone Star Brahmas training camp as the NAHL club tendered him at the end of the 2021-2022 season. Michael will join the Falcons, who are proud members of the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC). MASCAC competes at the NCAA Division III level. Brahmas hockey director Knute Anderson had this to say on the news, “the Falcons are gaining a truly dynamic player who will be able to come in and make an immediate impact with the program.”
