Huge game by Gagnon boosts Texas over Dallas, 5-1

The Texas Jr. Brahmas\’ Sam Gagnon had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team\’s 5-1 win over the Dallas Jr. Stars.

Gagnon got on the board by slotting home a goal 6:03 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Texas. Ryan Dunner picked up the assist. Gagnon dished an assist on Kurt Thiele\’s goal that made the score 3-1 Texas at 19:04 into the second period. He added another helper on Nick Nitta\’s goal that made the score 4-1 Texas at 5:20 into the third period.

Texas\’ penalty kill excelled, as the Jr. Brahmas gave up zero goals despite allowing eight power plays.

Texas stifled Dallas\’ power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Jr. Brahmas\’ goal total was higher than their season average. This season, Texas averages 2.8 goals per contest. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with three goals.

Texas also got points from Anthony Koslow, who also had one goal and one assist. Texas also got a goal from Jimmy Anderson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Texas were Devin Pierce, who had one and Paolo DiGenova and Mykyta Sheptytsky, who each chipped in two.

The Jr. Stars were led by Aaron Torres, who scored the team\’s only goal. Torres scored short handed 13:23 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Dallas played down a man on Tyler Valentin\’s tripping. Josig Rochon assisted on the tally.

Joe Hacker rejected 24 shots on goal for the Jr. Brahmas. Texas incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Anthony Galliart recorded 25 saves for the Jr. Stars. Dallas incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
