Ford Becomes First Brahma to Tender in NAHL

Mar 24, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Texas Brahmas are pleased to announce that forward Nick Ford ('95) has signed a Tender agreement with the Brookings Blizzard of the NAHL.

Ford (6'0/185), a Chicago, Illinois native, recently completed his first season of junior hockey. He split time between both Brahmas organizations at the NA and NA3 level this past season. He finished the season with Texas in the NA3, amassing 18 points in the final six games, which earned him February 'Forward of the Month' honors. In the playoffs, Ford added seven points in four games for the Brahmas as they fell in the South Division Finals to close out their season.

"Nick was a big contributor for us at the end of the season, and a large reason for our late season success", said Brahmas Head Coach Al Rooney. "He has nothing left to prove at this level and will contribute nicely for Brookings next year I'm sure. He worked hard at the end of the season to show that he belongs in the NAHL and I think he obviously left little doubt about that. I look forward to seeing the role he will play for them next season and wish him nothing but success."

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include one tender exclusively used on players from the NA3HL – plus or minus any trades – which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft, which will be held in June 9, 2015.
