Champaign lifts Point Mallard over Texas, 4-1

Behind a great game by Jake Champaign, who had two goals, Point Mallard defeated Texas, 4-1.

Champaign\’s tallies came at 4:58 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Point Mallard and 7:01 into the third to make the score 3-1 Point Mallard.

Texas was stymied by Point Mallard\’s netminder Cooper Seedott, who stopped 25 shots during the victory. Seedott certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.47 entering the contest.

Point Mallard\’s penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Texas power plays. Point Mallard\’s offense rang up 55 shots on Texas\’ net.

Point Mallard also got points from Jake Cox, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Justin Clark also scored for Point Mallard. More assists for Point Mallard came via Josh Hamilton, who had two and Chandler Brown, Justin Delisle, and Matt Darnell, who each chipped in one.

Texas was held below its usual level of production. Texas averages 4.8 goals per game.

Texas was led by Kyle Galloway, who scored the team\’s only goal. Galloway scored 9:58 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Ryan Dunner provided the assist.

Point Mallard incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Brandon Perrone rejected 51 shots on goal for Texas. Texas incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors.
