Brahmas Complete The Weekend Sweep

Sep 19, 2015

Just 24 hours after opening their season with a 6-0 shutout over the rival Euless Jr. Stars, the Texas Brahmas picked up another throttling victory over their foe, this time by a score of 5-0.

The Brahmas got off to an even hotter start on Saturday scoring four of their goals in the first period.  Bryan Whelan got things started just two minutes in on the very first shot of the game.  Eight minutes later, Whelan’s linemates Zack Andersen and Kyle Galloway hooked up for Galloway’s first of two goals on the night.  Five minutes after that the Russian sensation Victor Ekk ripped a one-timer top shelf off of a wonderful feed from Ryan Dunner.  Then, to conclude the period Kyle Galloway struck with under a minute left, this time Whelan and Oliver Hay grabbing the assists.

After a quite second Bryan Whelan would be the lone goal scorer of the third period, which would give him his 6th point on the weekend.

When asked about his impressive weekend, Whelan wasn't interesed in talking about himself, "I've got to give all the credit to my line, they were opening up lanes for me, and blocking the goalies eyes all night.  This is a big four point weekend for the team."

In net, Tyler Myers recorded his first NA3HL shutout in his first NA3HL start.  The young stud from Thornton, Colorado recorded 9 saves over 60 minutes to enhance the Texas Brahmas record to 2-0.

“It’s important for both of our goalies to get off on the right foot.  Last year we weren’t getting shutouts in these type of games but for us to do that now speaks volumes to our goaltenders,” said Brahmas Head Coach Al Rooney following the victory.

The team is off next weekend but has a big test at NYTEX the following with four games in four days.  Point Mallard is in town Friday and Saturday, while Atlanta is the away team Sunday and Monday.  For tickets, call 817-336-ICE or stop by the Box Office at NYTEX Sports Centre.
