BRAHMAS BOLSTER THE LINEUP

Sep 3, 2014

The Texas Brahmas are pleased to announce the newest additions to the team, with players be added in all 3 positions of the lineup. Veteran forward Nikita Sheptytsky (95), Defenseman Caleb West (95) and goaltender Tristan Canter (95) all signed with the Brahmas this week. “These 3 all bring some element to the team that was lacking and I expect all to contribute this season”, said Head Coach Al Rooney. Sheptytsky is an import player from the Ukraine, who last season played for Missoula in the WSHL, and is expected to be on the Brahmas top line. “He very quickly has shown that he has some special ability and I think he will be a key offensive weapon for us this season. He has great size, but can handle the puck well in tight spaces and see the ice real well. He has potential above and beyond our league I think eventually, so it’s exciting o have him with us here”, added Rooney. West is a defenseman from the Dallas area that will add a bit of speed and depth to the defense this year. “He has stepped into our routine and adapted quickly. He practices hard, quietly goes about getting the job done and I think will grow into a real solid defensive role for us this year”, said Rooney. With the signing of goaltender Tristan Canter, Coach Rooney feels he has a real battle on his hands for control of the Brahmas net. “Both guys will see some time of course, but it’s always a good thing when you competition for playing time. It brings out the best in players and the speed and athleticism that Canter has shown since his arrival is a good counter to the size and positioning that Hacker brings”, said Rooney. “They both bring different looks and it will be interesting to see who wants to seize the reins early.” The Brahmas are well into their practice schedule now and open the season in less than two weeks against the Sugarland Imperials on the 12th of September at NYTEX Sports Centre. The team is starting to look sharp together and expect an exciting and successful season ahead for the NA3HL Brahmas this year.
