Banged Up Brahmas Fall To Ducks

Oct 2, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Several injuries plagued the Texas Brahmas on Friday night, as they couldn’t hang on to their lead and fell to the Point Mallard Ducks in overtime by a score of 4-3.

Point Mallard jumped out to an early 1-0 start in the first off of a wraparound that just beat the outstretched pad of Brandon Perrone.  Not even three minutes later though, Kyle Galloway was able to strike shorthanded as he roofed a backhander across Ducks goalie Cooper Seedot.  With under a minute to play in the first period, new-coming returner Mykyta Sheptytsky made his impact felt as his initial shot rattled off Seedot’s chest and Dakota Davis was there to bang it home.

A 2-1 lead after one was crucial for the Brahmas and it was even extend to 3-1 during the second frame as Kyle Galloway sprung the water bottle from it’s resting position for his second of the night.  A brilliant outlet look by Matt Araujo from his own zone made the goal possible.

However, the third period was a different tale.  Over the course of play the Brahmas lost defensemen Brandon Baker and Jacob Elrod to injury.  Furthermore, offensive speedster Ryan Dunner was hurt, too.  A too many men penalty on the Brahmas proved costly late in the third though as Justin Delisle was able to narrow the lead to one.  Then, with the goalie pulled, Point Mallard’s Jake Champaign beat Perrone to send the game into overtime.

In OT momentum just seemed to favor the Ducks and eventually it was Josh Hamilton who slid home a two-on-one to give Point Mallard the win.

The Brahmas and Ducks will duel again tomorrow at NYTEX with puck dropped scheduled for 7:35.  No need to purchase tickets as the doors are open for free.
