Another Texan Tenders with Brahmas

May 26, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Brahmas organization is pleased to announce that defenseman Niklas McCallum signed one of their two remaining tenders with the Texas Brahmas.

McCallum (6'6", 185) played for HC Dallas U18 AA this past season where he contributed with 12 points in just 18 games. McCallum is a San Angelo, Texas native where head coach Al Rooney played four years of his professional career.

This addition helps the Brahmas hold true to their off-season goal of trying to develop more Texas based players within the organization.

"I had been speaking with Nik for several months now about this coming season. Originally he was just going to be trying out as a free agent, but as we approached tryouts and the draft, I decided to lock him up prior to the draft taking place," Rooney said. "I spoke with an former-NAHL assistant coach who does scouting now and his recommendation made this decision easier to make."

His first year as a junior player, Nik is expected to play a big role in the defensive end of the ice and as he adjusts to the speed of the junior game, hopefully his contribituions will pick up on the offensive side of the equation as well. With his size and reach, McCallum will keep players in check and make the defensive zone seem smaller for opponents.

The Brahmas have one remaining tender to use prior to this summer's NA3HL Draft on June 16.
