Weekend Preview: Louisiana

Nov 12, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – For the second consecutive weekend the Brahmas are traveling in the southeast direction as they prepare to take on the Louisiana Drillers.

The series will be the first between the two teams as the Drillers are new to the NA3HL this season as an expansion franchise.  Here’s the preview.

THE OPPOSITION: The Drillers currently hold a record of 5-8-1, good for fifth in the south division.  Despite their subpar record, the team has won three of it’s last four which makes them a potentially dangerous opponent.

Louisiana is led in scoring by Tucker Alspaugh, a defenseman who has 16 points in 14 games.  He’s not the only blue liner producing though as Jacob Istre is fourth in team scoring with ten points in 12 games.

THE BRAHMAS: The boys enter the weekend in the midst of a franchise record ten wins a row.  The streak began back on October 9th and consists of multiple series sweeps over both Euless and Sugar Land, but this is a different test in Louisiana.

In the Brahmas last five games they’ve scored an unreal 28 goals.  Bryan Whelan leads the way with five goals during that stretch but there are three teammates right behind him who have four in that time.  The production has been there from top to bottom and it’s showing.

THE DIFFERENCE:  By the numbers, goaltending is expected to be what separates both teams this weekend.  The Brahmas goals against average is 1.75, good for second in the league.  Louisiana finds themselves at the other end of the spectrum however, sitting at 28th with a GAA of just under 5.

If the Brahmas offense stays as hot as it has been, Louisiana could be in trouble.

Start times for the three game set are a little unique as things get underway on Friday at 4 P.M., 4:30 P.M. on Saturday, and 9 A.M. on Sunday.
