Weekend Preview: Euless

Oct 21, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Texas Brahmas began their season on a high note with two decisive victories over the Euless Jr. Stars by a combined score of 11-0.  Since then, it’s been a roller coaster ride for the boys who went an unfortunate 0-2-2 during a four game weekend, yet bounced back with a three game sweep on the road in Sugar Land.  Now carrying a 5-2-2 record, the team meets up with Euless yet again.  This time around, the Stars look a bit different.

Since the opening weekend, the division rival has welcomed its top player, Kayne Fedor, back from Australia.  He’s averaging a point-per-game for the Stars trough nine contests.  Joining Fedor are two former Brahmas who were acquired via trade, Chase Calvert and Triston Wilson.

Calvert was sent to Euless to complete the off-season trade that brought Brandon Baker to NYTEX and Wilson was more recently shopped for cash and a tender.  Both are expected to be in the lineup for the Stars this weekend.

The Stars are not off to the hottest start to begin their season, however they are riding the momentum of their first victory last weekend, which came by a score of 4-3 at home against Louisiana.  Defense has been an issue for Euless thus far as the team currently finds themselves at second-worst in goals against, having allowed 71 in 11 games.

On the other hand, the Brahmas feel as if they regained their scoring touch two weekends ago in their victories over Sugar Land.  Mykyta Sheptytsky pulled home NA3HL South Division Star of the Week honors with his eight points in three games.  Multi-goal games on Friday and Sunday for “Shep” were accompanied by five assists from the team captain Ryan Dunner, who was back in action after recovering from a lower-body injury sustained during the four-game home stretch.

Dunner and Sheptytsky are sitting just behind the Brahmas overall leading goal scorer, Kyle Galloway.  The Sugar Hill, Georgia native has racked up 13 points through nine games for the team.  Five of them came against Euless on opening weekend.

In net for the Brahmas, Brandon Perrone (3-1-1) provided two wins on back-to-back nights against the Imperials.  He’ll now enter this weekend with a goals against average of 1.98 and a save percentage of .917%.  Not to be forgotten, Tyler Myers (2-1-1) carries a 2.77 GAA and a SV% of .895.  Together, the two hold the #7 spot in combined GAA.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 both Friday and Saturday at the Dr. Pepper Star Center in Euless!
