NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Import forward Victor Ekk (97), who played 16 games in the NAHL for the Springfield Blues last season, is the Texas Brahmas first announced roster signing for the 2015-16 season. Victor, who hails from Moscow, Russia, also appeared in 25 games for Oklahoma City (WSHL) scoring 14 goals and 17 assists to notch 31 points.

“Victor is everything we were looking for in a player for this coming season. He is a young and up-and-coming player, has NAHL experience, and averaged over a point a game at the Tier III level of hockey”, Head Coach Al Rooney said. “We are very excited to have him on board with us for the coming season, and expect him to make an immediate impact for us offensively.”

Ekk (5’11”, 175 lbs) began last season with Springfield where he appeared in 16 games, scoring one goal and adding an assist, but more importantly, gained valuable experience at the Tier II level.

“He has been where we are trying to develop our players to go to. For him to play there last season as a 1997 birth year demonstrates the potential that he has”, added Rooney. “It falls right into place with what we are trying to do here in Texas, which is that we want to be the premier developer of Tier II players in the NA3HL moving forward. He obviously benefited from finishing the year as a go-to guy in Oklahoma City, and will fill that role for us as well. But he doesn’t have far to go, and our goal is to help him get there either this season or next.”

With the completion of the NA3HL Draft last week, where the Brahmas selected 11 players, expect players to begin signing contracts with the Brahmas as the summer continues.
