Topeka downs Texas, 3-1

Colin OConner had one point to lead the Topeka Capitals to a 3-1 victory over the Texas Jr. Brahmas.

Topeka excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Topeka also had goals scored by Colton Sprenger and Trey Opack, who scored one goal each. More assists for Topeka came via Andrew Cooley, Hank Roers, and Dylan Wattles, who each chipped in one.

Texas managed to stay out of the box better than usual, tallying one minor for two minutes in penalty time. The Jr. Brahmas finished below its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Texas found itself stymied offensively, and got off a mere 13 shots against the Capitals\’ defense.

The Jr. Brahmas were led by Dixon Whitehead, who scored the team\’s only goal. Whitehead scored 47 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Austin Davis assisted on the tally.

Jacob Pelton made 12 saves for Topeka on 13 shots. The Capitals incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tristan Canter rejected 22 shots on goal for Texas.
