Texas falls to Sugar Land in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Sugar Land Imperials\’ Frank Muscarella scored 34 seconds into overtime to beat the Texas Jr. Brahmas, 3-2 (OT).

Sugar Land overcame a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Imperials fell behind 2-0 after a goal by Texas\’ Anthony Koslow at 28 seconds in the second period. Sugar Land tied things up at 2-2 on a goal by John Cuni at 11:52 in the second period.

Muscarella was all over the ice for the Imperials, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Sugar Land excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. Team\’s forwards weren\’t the only contributers offensively, and the team\’s defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

In addition, Sugar Land received assists from Matthew Winkle, Ryan Meyer, Aksel Campbell, Donavan Meyer, Ryan James, and Matt DeNure, who contributed one each.

The Jr. Brahmas put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Imperials to score on any of their seven power plays. Texas could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Jon Grimm also scored for Texas. Other players who recorded assists for Texas were Zach McPherson and Mykyta Sheptytsky, who each chipped in one.

Christopher Otap made 21 saves for Sugar Land on 23 shots. The Imperials incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Tristan Canter rejected 19 shots on goal for the Jr. Brahmas.
