Sugar Land blows out Texas, 7-2

The Sugar Land Imperials were firing on all cylinders against the Texas Jr. Brahmas, and when the final buzzer sounded Imperials emerged with a 7-2 win.

Sugar Land was led by Ryan James, who tallied one goal and one assist. James scored 14:36 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Sugar Land.

The Imperials forced Texas\’ goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, ripping 36 shots and forcing 29 saves. Joe Hacker made 19 stops and Tristan Canter made 10. Sugar Land bested its season scoring average. The Imperials average 4.5 goals per game. The defensemen of Sugar Land were also effective in the Jr. Brahmas\’ zone, and came away with three goals.

Sugar Land also got points from Ryan Meyer, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Sugar Land included Kyle Cedrone, who had two and Frank Muscarella, Chandler Cole, and Matthew Jung, who each put in one. More assists for Sugar Land came via Matthew Winkle, who had two and Josh Rocco, Aksel Campbell, and John Cuni, who each chipped in one.

Texas was helped by Zac Flachman, who registered one goal. Flachman scored 6:40 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Paolo DiGenova provided the assist. Jon Grimm also scored for Texas. In addition, Texas received assists from Zach McPherson, Thomas Puetz, and Conor Durkin, who contributed one each.

Timothy OSullivan recorded 14 saves for the Imperials. Sugar Land incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. The Jr. Brahmas incurred 30 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
