Sheptytsky nets hat trick, leads Texas to 6-2 win over Sugar Land

The Sugar Land Imperials could not stop the Texas Jr. Brahmas' Mykyta Sheptytsky, who tallied a hat trick in a 6-2 win.

Sheptytsky got on the scoresheet 14 seconds into the second period. He then added goals at 4:00 into the second and at 2:06 into the third.

 

Sugar Land's power play was ineffective against Texas' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Jr. Brahmas' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on eight Sugar Land power plays.

Texas also got points from Paolo DiGenova, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Texas included Anthony Koslow and Zac Flachman, who each put in one. In addition, Texas received assists from Conor Durkin, who had two and Matthew Alfieri, Brock Brown, Thomas Puetz, and Ian Atencio, who contributed one each.

The Imperials forced Texas goalie Joe Hacker to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Sugar Land was helped by Drew Waetjen, who had one goal. Waetjen scored 1:39 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Texas. Alex Tilman provided the assist. Sugar Land also got a goal from Ryan James as well. More assists for Sugar Land came via Matt DeNure, who had one.

The Jr. Brahmas' Hacker stopped 30 shots out of the 32 that he faced. Texas incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Nick Ross made 19 saves for the Imperials on 25 shots. Sugar Land incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.

The Brahmas net the first goal of the evening with nine seconds remaining in the opening period.
