Players To Watch: Playoffs Round One

Mar 18, 2016

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The post-season is upon us and while every player’s performance matters that much more, it’s time for a special edition of Players To Watch!

SAM GAGNON – Since joining the team roughly a month and a half ago, the Quebec native has been the perfect bolt of energy to this lineup.  With points in 11 of his 14 games with the team, Gagnon has 15 points in the past five.  #21 is poised to continue that and do big things this weekend.

"Sam has really sparked the power play for us since his arrival, and special teams will be a big factor in this series. His ability to control the puck to set things up will be huge for us,” said his head coach, Al Rooney.

BROCK BROWN – Speaking of hot, the captain has been playing his best hockey of the season as of late.  Riding an eight game point streak, the Hendersonville, TN product will be relied upon this weekend not only on the score sheet, but for moral attributes as well.

"His leadership off the ice and his tenacity on the ice will both be vital for this team to move forward.  He's one of our top penalty killers, and his assist production this season has been fantastic. He's one of our best two-way forwards," Rooney said of his "C".

FOURTH LINE – Hockey is a game of more than just points though, and these three will exemplify that this weekend.  Noah Klinsky, Garrett Culps, and Bennett Weycker have been an invaluable part of the squad this season in their own right and they’ll need to be special within those means again this weekend.  Look for Klinsky to be a monster on the penalty kill, Culps to be a force in the face-off dot, and Weycker to lay some of the hardest hits all weekend.

"The line of Klinsky, Culps and Weycker will play a key role for us this weekend. They will be tasked with shutting down the potent Capitals offense, while also being expected to keep up the outstanding work on the penalty kill."
