Hansen Called Up

Jan 28, 2016

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – With a slew of injuries biting the Lone Star Brahmas blue line, it’s time to shine for George Hansen.

The New York native found out on Thursday that he would be heading with the team to Odessa this weekend for the series against the Jackalopes.

Texas Jr. Brahmas Head Coach Al Rooney is thrilled for his #19, despite it meaning the loss of his services for games this weekend.

"George has obviously made an impact at the NA3 level and his play has warranted the callup. That said, he will need to focus more on defensive play for his game to 'translate' more effectively at that level.  I believe he can, but it’s more a matter of show and prove now.“

In 33 games this season, Hansen has 33 points and ranks second in nearly all statistical categories for defensemen in the entire league.

Since George was inked as an affiliate player with the Tier II partner, he does not count as an additional roster spot.  Additionally, it is not guaranteed George will play a game this weekend, as he is competing against Nashville Jr. Predators NA3HL defenseman Nicholas Redmon for the sixth spot on the big Brahmas blue line.

“He has talent and uses it effectively at our level, but he is going to need to add a heaping spoonful of grit to his game to stay at the next level.  The potential for the grit is definitely there, again, it’s just a matter of executing from here on out," Rooney continued.

To find out if George cracks the lineup, tune in on FastHockey.com for 7:05 PM starts on both Friday and Saturday.  As for his Texas Jr. Brahmas team, they’re on the road in Euless with games getting underway at 7:30.
