The Texas Brahmas  swept the Louisiana Drillers in three games over the past weekend. They are now only one point behind the first place Atlanta Capitals.

Friday’s game was won 4-0. Goals came from the hands of Jacob Peterson, Melker Kroon, Hunter Bersani and Zak Albers. Brahmas put a total of 55 shots on goal tender Kevin Lake. The 51 saves earned him the third star of the game. First star going to Brahmas goal tender Tyler Myers with a shut out and 24 saves. Second Star went to Brahmas skater, Jacob Peterson, as he had one goal and two assists.

Saturday the Brahmas came out strong putting up five straight goals from Dakota Davis, Melker Kroon, Vincent Dekumbis, Garrett Culps and Bennett Weycker through the first and second periods. Myers then allowed goals from Drillers, Austin Weber, Brandon Vukasin and Niki Raisko. Brahmas forward, Dakota Davis, score the final goal of the game sealing the 6-3 win. Myers and Lake both had 25 saves.  Dakota Davis earned first star, Drillers, Davis Van Gemerden, second, and Brahmas, Garrett Culps, third.

Sunday’s game was nothing short of a goalie duel. Once again Brahmas Tyler Myers was in net and Drillers played goal tender and Finland native, Santeria Seppinen.  Both goalies had shut outs through regulation, taking their teams to overtime. For Seppinen, this was his first game this year to not allow a goal through the first 60 minutes of play. The winning goal came from a Hunter Bersani break away, shot on net and a rebound goal from Jacob Peterson. Peterson earn first star of the game and Seppinen third star. This win gave Myers his fourth shut out and the second star of the game, all on his birthday. What a great way to celebrate with a final score of 1-0.

The Texas Brahmas come home to NYTEX Sports Centre, Saturday January 21, for a single game. They host the College Station Spirit and puck drops at 7:35 pm.
