Brahmas Receive First Tender

Mar 16, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – Head Coach Al Rooney secured his first tender for the 2015-16 season with big-man defenseman, Austin Smith.

"He's a physical defenseman who makes his opponent earn everything he gets," Rooney said. "He'll see time on the penalty kill for us and compliment our offensive players well to allow them to do their thing."

Smith played last season for Rice Memorial Prep in South Burlington, Vermont and had a solid campaign. The 6-foot-2 defenseman will be well known in Brahmaland as a tough, stay-at-home defender who takes care of business in his own end of the ice. He played 49 games with the Knights this past season.

Smith previously played for coach Rooney with the U16 AAA Jr. Predators in the 2013-14 season.

"I actually had my eye on him last summer but it's good to have him back in the fold. He's a character kid both on and off the ice and I really enjoy working with him. I expect him to step right in and make an immediate impact with this team," Rooney said.

Expect more announcements soon as the Texas Brahmas continue to build their roster for the 2015-16 season.
