Brahmas – Drillers Preview

Oct 20, 2016

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – The Texas Jr. Brahmas travel to Lafayette, LA for a two game weekend series. The Louisiana Drillers are 4-8-0 on the season and the Brahmas have a chance to climb up the South standings with a couple of big wins.

The Brahmas will look to stop Nikita Anistratenko, a rookie from Moscow and the Drillers leading goal scorer with seven goals in 12 games.  Texas has the best goal differential in the South, outscoring their opponents 33-11 so far this year, so the Drillers netminders will have to play strong.  As a unit the three goaltenders on roster allow more than five goals per game on average.

Texas is defending a 5-1-0 record and bringing in excitement to the game as goaltender Tyler Myers was named South Star of the Week last week. Myers is undefeated with a .955% save average and we can expect to see him in the net this weekend.

Offensively, eight Brahmas are averaging more than a point per game already this season and the team is hungry to see that production continue.

Head Coach Michael Hill says the Brahmas are going to try to “dictate the speed of the game and by doing that we have a real fast team so, we’ve got to use our speed against them as much as possible.”

The puck drops at 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, October 22 and 23 at Planet Ice. You can catch those games on www.fasthockey.com

The Texas Brahmas return home to the NYTEX Sports Centre on Friday, October 28 for a 7:35 game against the College Station Spirit.
