Brahmas – Capitals Finals Preview

Mar 22, 2017

North Richland Hills, TX – The top-seeded Texas Jr. Brahmas will host the Atlanta Capitals for a best-of-three series this weekend. The winner of the South Division Finals will advance to Chicago next weekend to compete for the NA3HL’s Silver Cup.

The Brahmas eliminated the Ducks in the semi-final round, taking games one and three. The Capitals made quick work of the Euless Jr. Stars, sweeping the Brahmas I-820 neighbor and outscoring them 18-5 over the two games.

Forward Boomer Miller leads the team with three goals and six points. Fellow rookie Sascha Figi also has three goals during the playoffs. Fourteen Capital skaters have at least two playoff points entering the match-up against the Brahmas.

Defensive play will be critical for the Texas team looking to win its first ever South Division Playoff Title. The reigning back-to-back regular season champions held Point Mallard to two and one goal respectively in their wins.

Second year goaltender Tyler Myers stopped 74 of 79 shots in his starts, while Anthony D’Aloisio stopped 35 in the series clinching win earlier this week.

Vincent Dekumbis and James Boisvert are the Brahmas point leaders in the playoffs with three points each. Offense struggled at times for the Brahmas, but the team proved to have depth and score timely goals when needed.

Game one will be at NYTEX Sports Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Saturday and Sunday’s games will each be at 12:05 p.m. and the teams will only play Sunday if the series is tied at one after Saturday.
