Brahmas Add More Size To Lineup

Jul 30, 2014

The Texas Brahmas of the NA3HL are pleased to announce the signing of 2 more players for the upcoming 2014-15 season.  Both players are new  to the team and add a significant amount of size to both up front and on the blue line. The latest additions to the roster are forward Zac Flachman (94), a 6’6” winger from South Dakota, who had 6 points in 16 games last season that saw him see limited action due to injury. Also inked for the coming season is Matt Alfieri (97), a 6’3” defenseman from Nashville, TN who Coach Rooney has worked with prior to accepting his position with the Brahmas.  “I haven’t consciously gone out and looked for big players to sign”, Rooney stated, “It just seems to have worked out that way so far.”  Flachman was brought on board through a longtime hockey associate of Coach Rooney’s, “He came highly recommended and after doing my due diligence on his play, seeing video and speaking with other Coaches, we wanted to bring Zac here to NYTEX. He will certainly look to be an immovable force for us along the boards and down low in the zone. And in speaking with him this summer, his enthusiasm to get down here and play is second to none.” Alfieri will embark on his rookie year of Jr hockey with the Brahmas this year but already have a head start on how his Coach likes to operate. “With Matt, he obviously is a younger player, but expectations are that he can step right in and be a guy for us that can shut down opponents. I see him in a ‘stay-at-home’ defensive role initially that he can then grow and develop into more responsibilities as he gets acclimated with Jr Hockey. I think he has a high ceiling of growth potential and I am thrilled that he chose to sign with us here in Texas.” These two latest signings bring the Brahmas roster now to 4 with Rooney indicating that several local player signings will be announced soon. “We really want to have a good mix on this roster, not only of veterans and younger guys, but also a significant amount of local players in addition to guys recruited in from out of state. We want to pride ourselves at all levels of this organization to be the premier talent developer for hockey players in the Ft Worth/Dallas metro area.”  Look for more signings and announcements coming soon. The Brahmas will be playing a 48 game schedule out of NYTEX Sports Centre this season as members of the NA3HL’s ‘South Division’.
