Big Weekend Capped Off

Oct 5, 2015

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX – For the second time this weekend the Brahmas suffered heartbreak in the fashion of an overtime loss, this time to the Atlanta Capitals.

Contrary to last nights’ matchup, the Capitals wasted very little time scoring today as their first came just four minutes into the first.  Moments later they tacked on another that left most fans in the rink with the feeling that it could be a long afternoon at NYTEX.

However, Oliver Hay changed that mindset in the second when he netted his first NA3HL goal.  Mykyta Sheptytsky and Victor Ekk were credited with assists.  Two and a half minutes later, Matt Araujo joined the NA3HL goal-scoring club as he made an excellent effort to keep the puck in the zone and then fire it on and in the net.  Sheptytsky received his second assist of the day, as he was the man who won the face-off that was slid back by Oliver Hay.

The momentum came to a halt with just over a minute to go in that very same period when Dylan Wattles of Atlanta sniped Tyler Myers glove-side high to give his team a lead heading into the third.

In the third Kyle Galloway was able to knot things back up with his team-leading sixth of the season.  George Hansen and Kyle Torgerson were awarded with helpers on the play.  It was the only goal of the third, as the two sides would need the extra five minutes of overtime.

Atlanta wouldn’t use all five though, just 1:10 of it when Aleksi Hoivala rushed up the right side of the ice and dropped a pass for Alex Johanson who didn’t miss.  That would do it for today, final score 4-3.

The Capitals conclude their trip to Texas a perfect 4-0, while the Brahmas have to take a look in the mirror, finishing the weekend 0-2-2.

It’s a quick turnaround for the team who is in Sugar Land on Friday to begin a three game set.
